POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide a positive first impression by ensuring a clean and hospitable environment for guests by performing assigned duties. Receives or entertains guests in a social or official capacity. Work with management and service staff to maintain service efficiency and ensuring total guest satisfaction. To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The tasks below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
TASKS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Always be cordial and generous towards guests
• Have a high level of social contact.
• Work closely with guests and employees.
• May work full time or part time, but must work less than 40 hours per week.
• Often make decisions that affect guests. They consult supervisors or managers for some decisions
• May work days, evenings, weekends, or holidays
• May work split shifts. For example 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. with time off in between
• Are placed in conflict situations on a weekly basis
• Communicate with coworkers and customers daily by telephone or in person
• Work in a group or as part of a team
• Greet guests and escort them to tables. Provide menus, Seat guests at tables that meet their needs
• Take reservations and arrange tables
• Explain restaurant specialties and features to guests
• Escort guests to waiting areas, such as pool hall and lounge areas
• Resolve conflicts and negotiate with others
• Make decisions and solve problems
• Organize, plan, and prioritize work
• Communicate with people from outside the organization
